What Makes Us Unique
Confidently planting one’s feet on stage and giving a performance is a great accomplishment. We give students the confidence to stand on stage, which gives way to standing their ground throughout life.
Stand Your Ground Productions is a one-of-a-kind theatre experience. We celebrate creativity and inspire confidence. Here are some of the ways we accomplish this:
- We are a teaching drama company. Students do not need any prior acting or stage crew experience to join. Throughout the rehearsal process, we’ll give students all the tools needed to succeed in front of an audience and behind the scenes, regardless of prior experience.
- We believe students are made for excellence. Each of our shows brings new opportunities for students to grow. Those onstage will stretch their bounds in acting, singing, and dancing; those behind the scenes will become better builders, painters, and stage managers. We believe that doing anything less would be a waste of time.
- We produce a variety of shows. Each year brings two main productions: one established, the other a Miss Oertel original. The established shows let students place themselves in the rich history of theatre. Our original shows are crowd favorites, featuring zany characters, clever plots, and humor that’s uniquely ours. Our original shows also offer students something rarely found elsewhere: the opportunity to be part of a production’s first ever cast and crew.
- We let our faith guide everything we do. By growing in the talents God gave us, we use theatre as a way to glorify Him. We do not feel the need to be overtly preachy with our performances. We desire to bring joy to each cast, crew, and audience, and God delights in that.
Throughout it all, students grow in creativity, strengthen their work ethics, make friendships, and have a blast.
